Lima (Callao), Peru
Located less than an hour from the center of Lima, Callao is affectionately called the First Port of Peru. It is the gateway to a world of experiences, from exquisite gastronomy to wildlife adventures along the coast. Continue to Lima to take in the city’s historic center, deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its generous share of Baroque-, Renaissance- and Rococo-inspired buildings with elaborate facades, balconies, ornate gates, and courtyards in the area around the Plaza Mayor. While Lima was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535, parts of Lima were inhabited more than 10,000 years ago. It is the gateway to so many interesting ancient wonders, like Machu Picchu.

Paracas Bay (Pisco/San Martin), Peru
Considered one of the richest ecosystems in the world, the protected Paracas National Preserve is home to abundant marine and bird life. Another fascinating region with incredible flora is San Martin, where you can enjoy one of the warmest and floweriest regions of Peru. It’s also home to an important, yet obscure, archeological site, the Gran Pajatén, a World Heritage Site and National Park occupied as early as 200 B.C.E. To explore an even greater enigma in archeology, head to Pisco to fly over the famous Nazca Lines, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. These geometric shapes and swirls have been cut into the stony desert floor to resemble various figures, such as a dog, a spider, a bird, and much more.

Ilo District, Peru
Ilo was the home of the Chiribaya people, a culture that flourished from here throughout the coast of southern Peru and adjacent Chile from 700 CE until Spanish settlement in the late 16th century. With an array of colonial churches and an ecological park in the area, it offers a taste of Peru’s rich history and natural wonder.

Arica, Chile
Amid the famed Atacama Desert is the verdant oasis of Arica. Take in breathtaking views from atop Morro de Arica, the iconic hill that rises steeply from the sea. Stroll down Arica’s main thoroughfare called Paseo 21 de mayo and try the classic bread with olives of Azapa. For a taste of Chile’s beach culture, visit El Laucho near Alacrán Island to bask on powdery sand and swim in clear waters. Arica is also home to one of most important archeological sites in the world, where you may witness geoglyphs and earn about two of the oldest mummies in the world – older than those found in Egypt.

Antofagasta, Chile
Antofagasta is nicknamed The Pearl of the North because it glimmers in the desert. It boasts amazing geological forms, cliffs, warm waters, and rare flora and fauna. Yet, just beyond the desert, Antofagasta offers incredible beaches. Among the most picturesque are Mejillones, Santa Maria Island, and Hornitos. These beaches offer sunworshippers warm and calm waters. La Rinconada Beach is located in the San Luciano Hill slope near Antofagasta allowing you to get a different perspective of the landscape. Plus, you can take in the typical fauna that includes seagulls, lizards, crabs, and sea dogs. One of the most iconic natural monuments you will find on the shore is La Portada, a 140-foot-high rock arch.

At Sea
Spend the day on the high seas pampering yourself at the spa or enjoying some time on deck. Mingle with your fellow explorers and swap stories of your exploits, making plans for new ones together once you get to shore

Coquimbo (Las Serena), Chile
Between the towns Coquimbo and La Serena, you will find the world’s driest desert in the north contrasted by the fertile land of the central valley, where grapes are grown to produce amazing wines and piscos. In Coquimbo, visit La Herradura beach and, if time permits, get a feel for the nightlife of the English District. For a different shore, walk down the long Avenida del Mar in La Serena to choose where to lay down your towel or go shopping at Recova, the most famous market in the area, which showcases amazing arts and crafts. Take the “road of grapes and vineyards” south of Atacama Desert to learn about the whole process of making Chilean wine before enjoying a sampling.

Santiago (Valparaiso), Chile
In Valparaíso, walk in the footsteps of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda and immerse yourself in its proud naval history at Plaza Sotomayor. For an unforgettable view of the city, ascend on one of its 15 funiculars. Well worth the journey inland, you can be at the center of Santiago in approximately 90 minutes. Be sure to see Palacio de La Moneda, the presidential palace, and view the Plaza de Armas with its 18th century cathedral, along with stylish residential areas around San Cristobal Hill. Museum lovers will be drawn to the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino and Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, among others.

Castro, Chile
Castro is the welcoming capital of the Chiloé Province, best explored on foot. It is home to a total of 16 churches in and around the island and recognized by UNESCO for their unique cultural value. Many were constructed almost entirely from native wood in the Chilote architecture style with each one having its own individual color scheme. Once you’ve admired the neo-Gothic and classical architecture of the churches, wander through the Plaza de Armas where you’ll find a handcraft fair selling all sorts of wonderful items. You can also stop for a visit at Chiloé’s Contemporary Art Museum.

Experience one of the world’s most captivating places with an abundance of natural treasures in Punta Arenas. Take a boat or a kayak along the winding Strait of Magellan. The fjords and channels are celebrated for their natural beauty of glacial and mountainous scenery. It is also home to several islands, including Magdalena Island where penguins are eager to meet your acquaintance-60,000 of them. These Magellan Penguins comprise the largest colony of penguins in Chile. For a wildlife-centric trek, head to Torres del Paine, deemed a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Aguila & Condor Glaciers
Aguila Glacier is a Chilean glacier located in Agostini Fjord, which separates the Cordillera Darwin in two. Your captain may navigate through Cockburn Channel where you will soon see the glaciers that descend from the middle of the Darwin Mountain Range – some of them reaching the water. At Aguila Glacier, you can hike around a lagoon formed by the melting ice, eventually reaching a spot right in front of it with stunning views. At Condor Glacier, you might catch a glimpse of the famed Andean Condors that are so abundant in this area.

Ushuaia, Argentina
The snow-capped Martial Mountains behind a sprawling city of colorful buildings create the backdrop of Ushuaia, Argentina. A mix of historic buildings and rugged nature adventures make this city the perfect fit for the curious explorer who wants to go beyond the surface. Don’t let the nickname the “End of the World” fool you. Although it lies on the southernmost tip of South America among the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, Ushuaia is far from the end of any adventure. Where the Andes meet the Beagle Channel lies a lively town ready and waiting to take you on the thrill ride of a lifetime. The wild forest of Parque Yatana entices you to hike and explore its many trails as you find your way through Argentina’s lush nature and rich, indigenous culture. The forest’s name translates to “weave” in the native language of Yaghan. Here, you will find arts and crafts from the indigenous communities on display, giving you a sense of wonder. For a greater challenge, take the trail that leads from downtown to Martial Glacier. The scene before your eyes gives way from green grass to rocky, black peaks spattered with white snow.
