Cruise Connections participated in this year's record breaking ChildRun on June 6, 2010
BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia provides care for over 72,000 of the province's most seriously ill children every year.
On Sunday, June 6, they had their 25th Annual ChildRun, also known as the "fun run", to raise funds for childhood cancer research. This year's run broke all records, with 6300 participants and over $1 million dollars raised.
This year's run was sponsored by Lululemon founder Chip Wilson and his family and featured Logan Johnson Lay as the "Champion Child", a child who has beat the odds against cancer.
The atmosphere was fun and energetic at the BC Children's Hospital on the day of the run, as 6000 plus enjoyed performances, deejays, games and face painting. When the race started, some ran, others walked, rolled or strolled through 1k or 5k to help support this great cause.
Cruise Connections proudly helped to raise funds, and president Sanjay Goel even donated the grand prize for the draw held at the event, a Free Cruise for 2. In continuing with his generosity, Sanjay matched donations made by those who registered with the Cruise Connections team!
Those who weren't able to participate on the day, including some of our dedicated customer care team, participated in the virtual "fun run", and made donations online.
The ChildRun, hosted by Global TV was one of many events ran as part of the 23rd annual Miracle Weekend. This year, the BC Children's Hospital raised a record breaking $16,501,473 through its various philantrophic events. The BC Children's Hospital gives hope to these children to get better and reach their full potential.
So many families are touched through BC Children's Hospital and what better way to show our support than by helping them fundraise! We look forward to continuing to support the BC Children's Hospital Foundation and others in our community.
